These novel contemporary shapes are inspired by the bold and organic designs of Australian designers Claire Ritchie and Shuhlee.
Contemporary Brooches
Step 1
Look at the bold and simplified patterns of Ritchie and Shuhlee’s work. What shapes do you see?
Step 2
Draw a simplified organic shape onto a small piece of Coloured Vinyl, then cut it out. Explore using contrasting colours, and layering shapes to create finer details.
Step 3
Arrange, design and glue pieces together using a glue stick.
Step 4
Attach a brooch back to the reverse side using Craft Glue.
OPTION. Shapes can also be used to create earrings and necklaces. Simply pierce the shape close to the edge with a T-Pin and insert a Coloured Jump Ring. Thread onto a Ball Chain (necklace) or add Shepherd Hooks to make earrings.
